Reigi, Hiiumaa
The group exhibition 'Genius Loci II' (the protective spirit of a place) was held to commemorate 240 years after the plan of Catherine the Great and Count Potemkin to deport the local coastal Swedes community from their homes in Reigi parish on the Estonian island of Hiiumaa, uprooting their culture and rich textile history.
The parish pastorate building was later used as a small hat factory with seven workers, producing 4800 hats a year.
The exhibition featured six of my ornamental fur and wool felt hats, contemplating the relationship between artisanal crafts and mass production.
