The Agnes Quilted Bolero Jacket is inspired by both the functional workwear that artists such as Agnes Martin and Anne Truitt would wear painting in their studios, as well as the quilted petticoats worn under women’s skirts until mid-nineteenth century for warmth and shaping.
This jacket features 3/4 length sleeves, single button closure and hand-stitched grosgrain and self fabric bias binding. It has a sheer embroidered collar with a birds motif on either side which is made from an upcycled vintage table runner. You can wear both sides as the outside, but note that the collar only lays properly on the tartan facing outward. Alternatively, you can tuck in the collar and have the floral watercolour print panel showing on the back. The jacket is a bolero style and is meant to end at the waist, making it quite flattering, despite its padded nature.
